“B” IS FOR BONE BROTH

Benefits:

  • Boosts immune system, helps protect against any bugs

  • Provides a rich source of glycosaminoglycans to help protect joints for older dogs or dogs with joint issues

  • Contains gelatin to help protect stomach lining and prevent or address food allergies and gut sensitivity.

  • Can be added to existing food or serve separately in addition to their regular meal

NOTE: It is not nutritionally complete and shouldn’t be used for long-term exclusive feeding.

 

Ingredients:

 

Raw Bone Options:

  • Kangaroo tail (can be difficult to obtain)

  • Duck necks

  • Beef soup bones or chuck roast

  • Chicken carcass, breast, thighs, and drumsticks.

  • Lamb ribs or lamb necks.

 

Vegetables:

  • Bunch of Kale

  • Parsley

  • Zucchini

  • Yellow squash

  • Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (acidity helps to draw nutrients from the bones)

 

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients in large pot, cover with cold water

  2. Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

  3. Simmer ingredients gently for 20-24 hours

  4. Allow to cool

  5. Remove all bones from the broth (DO NOT FEED THESE BONES TO YOUR DOG!!!).

  6. Pick off any cooked meat from the bones and add to the broth

  7. Pour into single-serving size storage containers and freeze

  8. Defrost and serve as required
